St. Columban Parish, Cornwall up date request

St. Columban Parish, Cornwall, ON. update request

Hello
Received today this update request for St Columbans Church Cornwall, Ontario on my web site.  Thank you

St Columbans Church Cornwall, Ont.
Name: Frustrated

E-mail:

surnames: Out of date

Date: Jul. 24 2012

query: Thank you for posting this site.  There comes a responsibility to keep such sites current or to take them down.  Your info on St. Columban Pariah is very much out of date.  Two Masses no longer exist.  The pastor died and has been replaced.  Some of the history is not accurate.  This is an ongoing source of confusion and aggravation.  I understand that you've been asked to correct it or remove it.  Please comply.

It came at a good time as I am presently reviewing & updating all my GPSSV web pages.  This is a slow process as well as time consuming. Now I have about 100 pages done.

As no name was provided nor an e mail address I am acknowledging this request on my blog.

If I have missed anything feel free to get back to me with what you consider specifically missing Contact Alex

I am not sure if I was previously asked to correct or remove this information on St Columban's or not, nevertheless I have now update this page on St Columbans Church, it is also linked to the Alexandria-Cornwall diocese so that changes can be easily found under parishes,  as well  I  did some more fine tuning on these pages with what I am currently aware of, for   Stormont County churches,
Genealogy or development of churches in Glengarry and Stormont county,  The Genealogy/Development of the Catholic Parishes

If some of the history is not accurate, please feel free to enlighten me.  The history on my pages came from the parish bulletin, brochure or parish history.

Again thank you for taking the time to let me know about this glitch. I hope you get to see the results.

If I have missed anything in updating this request feel free to get back to me Contact Alex

take care and God Bless

St Andrews Presbyterian BMD Williamstown update

Greetings;

This is a short post on a glitch that has shown up in   St Andrews Presbyterian 1779-1804  BMD Williamstown update in regards to

  The Hugh McKay/Ray/McRae discrepancy.

1 Hugh McKay/Ray/McRae discrepancy. In original hand written microfilm records this entry can easily be interpreted as McKay or McRay. In the typed up Volume 1, 1779-1814, I have in my files this Hugh is listed as a McRAE. There was a transcription error between the hand written entries & the typed up volume 1 of St Andrews 1779-1814.  Thanks to John Maher of Alberta with his correction of July 2012, this Surname entry should be MCKAY, in regards to this baptisms entry.  Awf 7/12

B8 1796  p.101 in baptisms & index p.298 or 303
ISABEL  MCKAY
ISABEL MCRAE, DAUGHTER OF HUGH MCKAY/McRAE1 OF CHARLOTTENBURG      AND OF CHRISTIAN  MCKAY/McRAE HIS WIFE, WAS BAPTISED ON THE 28TH FEBRUARY 1796.

Glengarry County & Area Web page update

The GPSSV site  has been up for years, since at least 1998 for some pages. I am taking an e commerce course and one of the aspects is updating my pages, to freshen them up.  So far on this journey I have now done over 93 pages with more to come.  Among these pages updated are Gravestones of Glengarry, Alexs & Rhoda book page

This is a slow process but is getting done. When finished the site content may look the same, nevertheless I am working on making the links more co-ordinated.

Am working on Version 4 of My MacDonalds of Loup, Lundie & Fraser connections. At present there are more the 18,300 entries logged with in many cases Baptisms, marriages or deaths to  back up same.  This work even with the back up information is none the less only a guideline from my perspective. This may or may not meet with your perspective initially but when it does it will back up the accuracy of the information on a particular family.  Also due to the many similar names like John, Mary Catherine, Alex, there can not help but have duplication of names in this list. Fine tuning to cut down of such duplication will just take time as well as more complete documentation.  One thing that has come up repeatedly is that although the names of the people, parents, children  are correct, it doesn't always mean that they are the correct person for that family. In this regard I have included a number of cautions when dealing with such families.

Version 4 will end up with between 19 & 20,000 entries with documentation listed in family notes as well as some in the web pages of the format being used. This is between 8 and 9,000 additional new entries above what was in Version 3. This material update is presently in the 2 gig size.

I have also just finished the 1st session, draft of indexing the BMD of St Raphaels for the period 1805 - 1834 inclusive. This has over 4800 entries.
There are 22 heading being used are as follows.
Christian Name, surname, item [B1, M1, D1 etc.], birth year, month, day,  baptised date, father, mother, married year,  spouse, death year, death date, buried year, location [lot & concession, city when available], sponsor godfather, sponsor godmother, priest, witnesses, ref [ for St Raphaels the ref is SRAP] notes, age.

Not all category headings will have information available, maybe in time some of these blank entries can be filled in from other sources.
